Key Considerations

  • Achieving sustainable and innovative outcomes and protecting the environment.
  • Implementing innovative engineering solutions.
  • Undertaking relocation of existing services.
  • Working collaboratively with the Landscape Architect to ensure quality finishes and high amenity.
  • High profile and multi award winning development.

Project Challenges

Bulk Earthworks

The bulk earthworks stage at Port Coogee was completed as one contract, separate to the civil staging to create the opportunity to develop multiple stages at the same time. Balancing the earthworks within the Port Coogee development included fill to create the breakwaters, islands and marina which saved importing and exporting material. Careful stakeholder liaison was required through the dust moratorium periods.

Sustainable and Environmental Outcomes

A number of sustainable objectives and protection of environmental areas were achieved throughout the Port Coogee project. Sustainable outcomes include designing and implementing a non-potable water system to manage marina water quality and use for reticulation of parks and verges. The system also provides lots with a non-potable water supply.

Infrastructure

A significant project requirement was relocating major infrastructure within the development site to maximise land use for the marina development. Infrastructure relocation was carefully staged to ensure residential lot projections were achievable. JDSi was also directly involved in the delivery of marina based assets such as revetment walls, beaches, boardwalks and jetties.

Development Staging

Due to market conditions and product diversity within Port Coogee, the Client requested construction of concurrent stages in different areas within the site. JDSi provided engineering input into the land release strategy by carefully considering the ultimate servicing alignments and final levels to ensure coordination and cost effectiveness of all staging.
